Within our association, I coordinated drop-off locations throughout the state and promoted the doll drive to our members, other attorneys and vendors. It was a huge success. Our conference room was jam packed with dolls.
Together, Jessica and I brought the donations to area nonprofits. I realized what a unique impact Dolls for Daughters made. It was at this time when Jessica asked me to help with Kenzi’s Kidz.
With a background in working with nonprofit organizations and seeing Jessica so bravely turn something so tragic into something so wonderful, I could not say no.
Kenzi’s Kidz will relieve some of the financial burdens of at least one, low-income family pro-actively taking the necessary steps to create a stable environment for their children. The program plans to give each child the fundamental items needed to succeed in school such as school supplies, clothing, extracurricular activities as well as birthday and holiday gifts for a year.
In order to launch the program, we plan to meet with a local nonprofit that provides safe and secure housing for its clients. Please check back for updates.
In my spare time, I run. In Florida at the beginning of next year, I plan to run my first marathon. Yes, I have a goal time. I would love to come in at 3:59:59…no sooner…well maybe sooner…but definitely no later! In the end, I want to say, “I did it in under four hours without keeling over!”
