What began as one mother’s response to unimaginable loss has grown into one of the Kenzi’s Causes’ most impactful missions—serving children in need across Colorado. After the stillbirth of her daughter Kenzi at 24 weeks, Jessica Bachus’ personal loss and grief sparked something extraordinary—something beyond her wildest dreams.
More than 140 guests gathered on Saturday, April 18 for the annual Gala4Kidz fundraiser, raising over $207,000 in support of the organization’s programs benefiting underserved youth.
“Our goal is to serve more than 30,000 children this year through our Packz4Kidz, Toy Shops, Kenzi’s Kidz, and Sportz4Kidz programs, as well as through partnerships with nonprofits across Colorado,” said Jessica Bachus, Founder and Executive Director of Kenzi’s Causes. “We see firsthand the growing need in our community, and we are committed to reaching as many children and families as possible with meaningful support.”
Attendees enjoyed an evening of entertainment, including a performance by the CU Buffoons, along with a silent and live auction. Chris Parente served as emcee, while Halie Behr of Behr Fundraising led the program’s “mission moment,” inspiring generous support from attendees. Maria and Rodolfo Gonzalez, a Kenzi’s Kidz family since 2022, shared the meaningful impact the organization has had on their family.
Several individuals and organizations were recognized for their outstanding contributions:
- Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers Thornton received the Collector Supreme Award for collecting the most toys in 2025.
- Boxstars and Local Moving, LLC was honored with the Champion for Kidz Award for its ongoing dedication to the organization’s mission.
- Nate Swanson was named Volunteer of the Year for his tireless efforts supporting the K Club boys mentoring program, Packz4Kidz giveaways, and holiday toy shops.
The Gala4Kidz event continues to provide meaningful opportunities for community involvement, including corporate sponsorships, ticketed attendance, and in-kind donations. This year, more than $67,000 worth of items were contributed to the live and silent auctions.
