When Jennifer first learned about Kenzi’s Causes, she was living at Warren Village in Denver, trying to navigate one of the hardest seasons of her life.

She had just lost her baby, and the grief left her isolated, overwhelmed, and unsure where to turn. Her housing manager saw how much she was struggling and gently encouraged her to connect with Kenzi’s Causes. Jennifer agreed, not knowing what to expect—only knowing she needed something, someone, somewhere to help her find her footing again.

Her first meeting with Jessica happened over Zoom during the height of COVID. Even through a screen, Jessica’s warmth was unmistakable. She had a comforting, joyful tone that made Jennifer feel safe, seen, and understood. For the first time in a long time, Jennifer felt like she had someone she could connect with—someone who genuinely cared.

Joining Kenzi’s Kidz came at a time when Jennifer’s life was full of responsibility. She was a single parent raising her young son while also caring for her two teenage nieces, who were facing their own challenges. Money was tight, outings were rare, and leaving the house often felt impossible.

Kenzi’s Causes changed that.

Suddenly, her family had opportunities to spend time together, to breathe, to laugh, and to be part of a community. Bowling nights, baseball games, movie outings, holiday celebrations, Easter events, Thanksgiving dinners, swimming lessons—each experience became a memory her family still talks about. Jennifer says the most important part of her journey with KC has been community—the chance to meet other families, build relationships, and feel supported in ways she had never experienced before.

Being part of Kenzi’s Kidz has shifted her family’s perspective.

They’ve learned to pause their busy lives and make time for each other. They’ve learned that joy matters, that connection matters, and that stepping out of your comfort zone can lead to experiences that stay with you forever. Jennifer hopes her story inspires other parents to let themselves have fun, to accept support, and to embrace the relationships that make life meaningful.

The support she’s received has been both practical and deeply personal. Emergency help with rent and phone bills, food assistance, laughter, community, and a sense of belonging—Jennifer says she could go on and on. Every bit of support helped her stay afloat during moments when she felt like she was carrying the world alone.

Jennifer wants people to understand the strength behind her story.

She is a single parent raising her son and two nieces. She grew up in the foster care system, lost her mother at 12, and spent years feeling misunderstood and unsupported. She has faced health challenges, financial strain, and the weight of doing life without a village. But through all of it, she has remained strong, smart, resilient, and determined.

Today, Jennifer is thriving. She graduates from Medical Assistant school on August 6th and will be working at her son’s school while continuing her education part‑time to finish her Esthetician certification. Her dream is to open her own business—something she once thought was impossible.

She credits Kenzi’s Causes for helping her get here. For motivating her. For giving her a community she can rely on. For showing up consistently. For becoming the family she never had. “I’m thankful that I’m finally coming out on top,” she says. “And that I have a beautiful community to spend time with when I need a little break. They are my family.”
