As I think about how very blessed I am as a mother, I often think about the families that Dolls for Daughters® has helped over the last three years. I am blessed to be the mother of Kenzi who has taught me how to be a better mother to her siblings and a better person to everyone in my life. It is times like this and days such as Mother’s Day when I remember the first year we donated dolls and were at a Toy Shop for the DEC.
It was 2007 and the lines outside this church were long, tons of families needed toys for their children at the Holidays. We donated 50 or so new dolls and Kyle was volunteering his time. I was currently 7 months pregnant with Kamden so Bailey and I watched the families come in and get their gifts. I saw our dolls being selected and wondered what the little girl who would be getting these dolls would think. There was one mother who took a Cabbage Patch Doll from the selection and held it up high for her friend to see and said “Look what I got!” She was so excited and so proud. I cried. The tears streamed down my face and I thought of Kenzi. This is what it was all about. I couldn’t give Kenzi a new doll that year but because of her, this mother would be able to give her daughter a new doll.
I am so proud that this year we will be giving back toys to boys and girls ages birth to 18. We still plan to collect dolls but we are going to give back bigger and better than ever. This year I hope we can collect and donate at least 3,000 new toys and I look forward to seeing the faces of many mothers and fathers this holiday season.
Thank you for supporting Dolls for Daughters®!
Sincerely,
