Kenzi's Kidz to the Stars: Brandon Pierce's Graduation Journey

Graduating from high school is a pivotal moment in your life. Marching across the stage, accepting your well-earned diploma, and throwing your hat into the air with your classmates represents the completion of a fundamental phase of formal education and also symbolizes the new adventure that awaits full of opportunities. On May 20, 2023, one of our Kenzi Kid Program participants, Brandon Pierce, will walk across the stage at Westminster High School to accept his diploma with honors. As he prepares for the significant moment, Brandon reflects upon the support and impact Kenzi’s Kidz Program has had on his life. Since 2014, the Pierce family has been a part of the Kenzi's Kidz program and has had a significant impact on Brandon's life. Brandon recalls that one of the most significant benefits was that he was provided with all necessary school supplies and materials without worries. This allowed him to concentrate on his studies, establish a solid academic base, and flourish as a student. And when he wasn't studying, Kenzi's Causes organized enjoyable and distinctive events that gave Brandon and his family the opportunity to bond and spend quality time together away from home.   In addition, Kenzi's Kidz program has provided Brandon with a sense of community and belonging. He reflects,

"Having the opportunity to meet other families in the same position as mine was so valuable and helped me understand how lucky I am."

Lastly, Brandon is grateful for Founder Jessica Bachus's continued encouragement and guidance that inspired him to focus on his academic career. He shares,

"I can't fully express all that being a part of Kenzi's has meant to me and my family over the years. I hope Jessica feels my love and appreciation for everything it has provided."

Brandon has two options for this upcoming fall. He may attend either CU Boulder for Aerospace Engineering or CSU Fort Collins Colorado for Mechanical Engineering with a focus on Aerospace Engineering. The decision will depend on the scholarships he is awarded. Regardless of which path he chooses, we are privileged and proud to be part of his journey. We eagerly anticipate his achievements and encourage him to aim high and reach for the stars!

Kenzi's Causes

In 2007, Jessica Bachus started Dolls for Daughters®, after her daughter Kenzi was stillborn. She created an annual holiday Toy Drive for Colorado children who would not otherwise have toys during the holidays. Today, Kenzi's Causes collects more than 100,000 toys, stocking stuffers, books, toothbrush/toothpaste kits, backpacks, lunch boxes and other items to change the lives of children in Colorado through our programs. At this annual event, families are also provided with community resources to help improve their lives and the lives of their children.
