Kicking Goals Off the Field: Regis Jesuit Boys Soccer Team Builds Bikes and Brighter Future

In a world that often moves too fast, there are still moments when time slows down—moments when the true meaning of teamwork and generosity shine beyond the field. That was the case this week when 14 young men from the Regis Jesuit High School Boys Soccer Team came together not to score goals, but to build something even more lasting: 14 brand-new bikes for children in our Denver Toy Shop program. As the holidays draw near, these 14 bikes are more than just shiny wheels and handlebars. They represent freedom, joy, and a sense of belonging for 14 children who have never had a bike of their own. For some, this may be the only bike they receive for years to come. But thanks to the heart and hands of 14 student athletes, those children will feel the thrill of hopping onto their first bike—the wind in their hair, laughter in the air, and memories that will last a lifetime. It's been said that volunteering is “the rent we pay for living on this earth.” For these young men, the lesson was not lost. They smiled, worked, and encouraged one another while assembling each bike—understanding that what they were building was bigger than the sum of its parts. They weren’t just tightening screws or attaching seats. They were building moments of joy. They were building hope. Their action is a reminder of what happens when people come together with purpose. The Regis Jesuit boys didn’t just donate their time. They brought their teamwork, their compassion, and their understanding that community is about looking beyond ourselves. They showed up for children they may never meet, knowing that their contribution matters. At Kenzi’s Causes, we are incredibly grateful—not only for the bikes themselves but for the example these young people are setting. They have shown that leadership isn’t just found in scoring the winning goal. It’s found in lifting others up and giving back in meaningful ways. To the Regis Jesuit Boys Soccer Team: thank you. Thank you for showing us that the strength of a team is not only how they play the game—but how they show up for their community. This holiday season, 14 children will feel seen, valued, and celebrated because of you. Their joy will speak louder than any applause from the stands—and that is what true victory looks like.

Kenzi's Causes

In 2007, Jessica Bachus started Dolls for Daughters®, after her daughter Kenzi was stillborn. She created an annual holiday Toy Drive for Colorado children who would not otherwise have toys during the holidays. Today, Kenzi's Causes collects more than 100,000 toys, stocking stuffers, books, toothbrush/toothpaste kits, backpacks, lunch boxes and other items to change the lives of children in Colorado through our programs. At this annual event, families are also provided with community resources to help improve their lives and the lives of their children.
