Toy Shop a Success! 4,000 plus Toys Given Away

On December 11, 2010 Dolls for Daughters® hosted its 1st Annual Toy Shopat Kim Robards Dance. Staffed with over 75 volunteers, our Toy Shop was able to give away over 4,000 NEW toys to families in our community. On top of these toys, Dolls for Daughters® gave away an additional 475 new dolls to local nonprofits that we support.

The first family arrived at 4:45am to ensure they were able to get first choice of all the toys in the Toy Shop. The doors did not open until 10am and by that time there were hundreds of people waiting in line to select toys for the holiday season. Each child that was in line with their parents was given a new toy for the holidays. Parents that arrived without their children were given 1 toy per child with a maximum of 2 toys per family. We wanted to ensure that we would be able to reach as many families as possible this holiday season. Our doors closed at 5pm with one last family coming in to get their toys.

It was amazing to see the joy on the children’s faces as they were able to find the perfect toy for the holidays. This ranged from fire trucks to baby dolls, to action figures and games. The need is great this holiday season and we were able to be a part of making a difference this holiday season.

We would not have been able to reach our goal without the support of our Board of Directors, our volunteer coordinator, volunteers and generous donors. If you helped any way this holiday season, thank you! We will do this event next year and we hope you will continue to support Dolls for Daughters® and Kenzi’s Kidz!

Kenzi's Causes

In 2007, Jessica Bachus started Dolls for Daughters®, after her daughter Kenzi was stillborn. She created an annual holiday Toy Drive for Colorado children who would not otherwise have toys during the holidays. Today, Kenzi's Causes collects more than 100,000 toys, stocking stuffers, books, toothbrush/toothpaste kits, backpacks, lunch boxes and other items to change the lives of children in Colorado through our programs. At this annual event, families are also provided with community resources to help improve their lives and the lives of their children.
