Why It’s So Important to Have a Safe Place to Go For Support

Everyone needs a safe place to go for community and belonging when they need support. Your safe place probably came to mind for you just now. Whether you call your mom after a long day at work, go to spend time with an old friend when life gets you down, or find comfort and security from your faithful pet – everyone has something that gives them comfort when they are struggling or just needs someone to make their day a bit brighter. At Kenzi’s Causes, it’s one of our great joys to be that safe place for our Kenzi’s Kidz families. It’s always our goal to be there for the highs and lows. And as we start a new year, we’re reflecting on how we have gotten to walk with some of our Kenzi’s Kidz families throughout the last few years + how we will get to show up for them in the years to come. That’s why we wanted to take this time to introduce you to one of our Kenzi’s Kidz families who is such a phenomenal example of what our community of support and belonging looks like.

Meet Terri Pierce & Her Family

Terri Pierce and her sons – Brandon (16), Bradon (13), and Bryce (12) – have been a part of the Kenzi’s Kidz Family for over six years now and we have absolutely loved getting to walk with her through every step of their journey. When we spoke to Terri about her experience with Kenzi’s Causes, she said the #1 word that came to mind for her was, “Supportive.”  So we wanted to chat a bit about the ways we’ve been able to create such a supportive environment at Kenzi’s Causes and how you can get involved if you want to join our community of support, too.

“I feel the most beneficial thing Kenzi's Causes provides is the knowledge that my family has somewhere to go for help when we may need it.” said Terri.

And for us, that really is the goal. We want to be a safe place for our families to come no matter what they need. Whether it’s through our back-to-school initiatives, holiday gift drives or anything in-between – Kenzi’s Causes is the place for children and their families to come for support at any time.

“Whether it be with food, gas, school, emergency needs or to have time with other families to bond and grow together,” said Terri. “Kenzi's Causes has helped us throughout the years with school supplies, with food and gas gift cards, Christmas gifts so we have a wonderful Christmas. They have ensured that we have family fun times.”

 

More Than Just Material Things

But it’s not just that. Although our events and drives are able to meet material needs – there’s something bigger at work, too.  It’s not just about making sure the tangible needs are taken care of, it’s about developing an even greater sense of community within our bigger family across all that we do.

“[We] Have other families we have gotten to meet and spend time with regularly so we truly have family. They help us with finding any resources we ever need.” said Terri.

That’s what the Kenzi’s Kidz family is all about – connecting with one another and developing an even greater sense of what it means to be a family. To us, that could not be more special.  It’s the heart behind so much of what we do. We offer connection and support through the very tangible needs and through the intangible, too. It’s why a holiday drive is never just a holiday drive and why back-to-school is so much more. And that’s just a few examples on top of all the events we do throughout the year.
