A Global Shutdown Proves We’re All Just People First, And That’s What Really Matters
I think I can attest to everyone reading this that you never thought you’d live through a global shutdown, right? As uncertain and intimidating this time period is, I think the best thing we can do (other than socially distance and practice routine handwashing) is reflect on the truths that have shined through within this dark place.
What do I mean by “We’re all just people first?”
Basically, I believe that now more than ever we are appreciating our kind - the people. It’s devasting to see hundreds and thousands of people from all over the world become affected by this virus.
It’s frightening and unpredictable.
It’s unfair and it’s alarming.
However, it’s also eye-opening. If we all follow the guidelines, stay home, and respect other people’s space, we can beat this thing!
This pandemic sheds light on the power of the people. When we unite, we are in control of the outcome of the story. Not to say that it’s not tragic; all the lives that have been lost and the economic turmoil we are facing, but if there’s any silver lining to this situation it’s that people are what really matter.
We have to stand by one another in times of uncertainty and believe that if we do our best and bring our best, we will win the fight. That’s quite philosophical, isn’t it?
We’ve Seen What Really Matters Firsthand
The amount of positive support we have seen from our donors during this challenging time is beyond price. The generosity and kindness is what proves that regardless of the illness sweeping the world, there is still wholeness circulating, too. Our donors have given over $3,000 in monetary donations, donations to our Amazon Wishlist, in-kind foods, blankets, and crafts. Everyone is experiencing some sort of uncertainty whether it’s financial or not. When people choose to give, even in a time period like this, that speaks volumes to who we are as a whole. Human beings are resilient and kind. We don’t give up! The families in our Kenzi’s Kidz Program are continuing to stay calm and healthy, thanks to our generous community. We are humbled, grateful, and counting our blessings each day for a safe and healthy environment.This is what it’s all about: People.

The best thing you can do right now during this time is to make sure you are taking good care of yourself. Your health is most important for the livelihood of others. (Talk about relying and leaning on one another…) If you are in the position to help other families get through these trying times, Kenzi’s Causes has made a goal to raise another $8,000 to support the Kenzi’s Kidz Families. This funding will help support families through the Easter holiday. Unfortunately, due to the coronavirus, we had to cancel our annual Easter Egg hunt for our families. Alternatively, we are going to provide Easter baskets to all 42 children within our program. We cannot do this without your support. So, if you are in a position to offer hope, joy, and love through this devasting time, we would be forever grateful to your contributions.
