How We’re Showing up for Our Kenzi’s Kidz Families This Holiday Season

The Holidays Are One of the Main Times Where Kids Should Just Be Kids But sadly, that’s not always the case. As so many families struggle to make ends meet this Holiday Season, there are countless children who end up having a less-than-happy holiday. We believe the holidays should be full of joy and that this is a time where kids should experience the magic of the season. That’s why Kenzi’s Causes has put an even greater emphasis on offering support to our community during this time. And one of our amazing families is a perfect example of how we were able to do just that...  

Meet Reshenae Long & Her Family

For the last five years, Reshenae Long and her children – Mackenzie (5) & Makai (2) – have been a part of the Kenzi’s Kidz Program. Throughout each of those years, we’ve been able to work with Reshenae to make the holidays a magical time for Mackenzie and Makai. That looks like helping them enjoy their favorite activities during the holidays.  

“Mackenzie loves makeup, dancing, singing, and gymnastics. Makai loves Avengers and dressing up like superheroes.” said Reshenae.

  So that’s exactly what they got to experience during the holidays. And according to Reshenae, it had an impact… “Mackenzie remembers Jessica and her staff like they are part of our actual family, they sure do make it feel that way.” For our team, that really is the goal. We call them our “Kenzi’s Kidz” and “Kenzi’s Family” for a reason – because our goal is to make everyone feel as welcome and at-home as possible throughout the program… especially during the holidays. To us – it’s about more than toys and gifts. It’s about making families who might otherwise be struggling feel a sense of love, belonging, support, and normalcy.  

Why Showing up Consistently Is What Really Matters

While our main focus in this blog is to talk about how we’re showing up for our families during the holidays, it’s also important to note that consistency is really the key here. Year-round, we spend time with our families to develop a lasting relationship that makes the holidays even more special.  

“Kenzi’s Causes has been a stable sense of support for my kids and I. No matter where I went as long as I reached out they had my back.” said Reshenae.

  Hearing these stories and knowing we’ve made a difference through your support is enough to create even more holiday magic. Reshenae said, “Thank you all for always being there for my kids and I. When we have no one else we have you. It’s really hard being a single mom and providing protection and financing all on my own so I am so grateful to have the consistent year-round support. Thank you for choosing us all those years ago to be a part of your program.” To that, we say Reshenae – thank you for choosing us. We love getting to be a part of your story over all these years and look forward to being in your life for years to come.
