This blog has been provided by Colin Whitenack, a wonderful supporter of Dolls for Daughters® and Kenzi’s Kidz! Read his message about March Madness!
Happy March!
I love this month, because it usually has the best skiing, and of course MARCH MADNESS basketball, which is what this message is about. I am facilitating a tournament pool and part of the proceeds will benefit Dolls for Daughters® and Kenzi’s Kidz. Even if you don’t care for sports, keep reading! This is easy, a lot of fun, and of course supports a good cause. I hope you participate!
Here’s the deal: The college basketball tournament starts on March 13. To enter this pool you will fill out one or more brackets and payment before that date. You can do as much research as you want, or you can do none at all. I have often seen people who never watch basketball win the pool by just guessing. It’s an exciting tournament because you never know what’s going to happen!
You don’t have to watch any games or follow the tournament if you don’t want to. I take care of all of that. However, we will do a couple parties at bars where people participating can get together and share libations and cheer for their teams.
Dolls for Daughters® was selected because they are based in Colorado!
So what does it cost, how does the nonprofit benefit, what do the winners win, etc?
· Each bracket costs $10. You may enter as many brackets as you like.
· The forms are electronic and delivered via the internet, so it’s really easy and fast to do.
· From everything we collect, the payout will be as follows:
o Dolls for Daughters® – 30% of all proceeds.
o The WORST bracket gets their $10 back
o Remaining
§ 1st place – 80%
§ 2nd place – 20%
§ Ties: There is a tiebreaker on the form that you’ll fill out. It’s the total points scored in the championship game (winner score + loser score) without going over. If there is still a tie after that, winnings will be split evenly.
o My Goal is to get 100+ entries, so that at least $300 goes to Dolls for Daughters®. With 100 entries the winner will get $553…not a bad pull!
· Payment – This is important. I must have all payments before tip off of the first game, which is usually around 10am on March 13th. Any brackets submitted without a payment will be removed. Payment options:
o Check to me (Colin Whitenack. 1775 Leyden St. Denver, CO 80220)
o Cash to me
o Paypal. You must have a PayPal account. Pay to colin.whitenack.AT.gmail.com. You must select Personal Payment: Gift. Then YOU must accept the PayPal Charges (this is 2.9% plus $0.30 per payment, or $0.59 for just one entry).
***If you plan on entering, please email me at colin.whitenack.AT.gmail.com and tell me the number of brackets you plan on doing. I will send out more information later, as well as the brackets (once the teams are decided). PLEASE include your phone number if think I might not have it also.***
Thanks for taking the time to read this! Hope to see your name in the tournament! Please share this information with everyone you know!
