Colorado DECA strives to create emerging leaders in all business pathways through competitive opportunities that strengthen innovation and public speaking, while simultaneously ingraining the importance of always giving back.

Within the 10/10/10 Initiative, we set a goal of donating $10,000, 10,000 hours of community service by DECA members, and 10,000 pounds of food to a different charity each year. For the 2025-2026 school year, we picked Kenzi’s Causes, but why?

 

What Makes Kenzi’s Causes Special to Colorado DECA

When researching different charities, Kenzi’s Causes stood out due to the locality of impact, the significant help we could provide, and the lasting impact they would have on Colorado DECA.

 

Locality of Impact

Truly contrasting other charities, Kenzi’s Causes’ impacts are all seen locally. This uniquely motivates Colorado DECA members to help, as their aid goes towards their immediate community!

 

How Colorado DECA Can Help

With the holistic approach Kenzi’s Causes uses to support families, we saw an extensive but accessible list of things we could do to support them. At events throughout the year, from the Packz4Kidz event to the holiday Toy Shop, Colorado DECA can spread awareness and increase engagement, providing more volunteers for such events.

With our 9,000 members, not all will be able to attend such events, but Kenzi’s Causes allows all members to participate during Miracle Minutes and drives for various items throughout the competition year. At each competition, no matter how small or large, members are reminded of our 10/10/10 Initiative and asked to donate pocket change or through Venmo during the Miracle Minute. Furthermore, our state officers can publicize ongoing drives during these same competitions; districts are on the path to donate snacks, school supplies, plushies, and more!

Throughout the year, Kenzi’s Causes is under a constant spotlight as we work to do all we can for this incredible community.

 

Kenzi’s Causes’ Impact on Colorado DECA

We do not support charities simply to say we do so; we hope that our 10/10/10 Initiative is a catalyst for creating emerging leaders who understand the importance of service. Kenzi’s Causes perfectly exemplifies this importance.

Run by a team of two and a half, Kenzi’s Causes is proof that action leaves an impact, even if you start small. With its reach across the state, holistically aiding thousands of families, we know that Kenzi’s Causes will inspire every DECA member who lends a helping hand.

At competitions and leadership conferences, we have the rare opportunity to call upon students from their Youth Advisory Board. Colorado DECA members will learn from peer leaders in service, making this partnership even more special.
