All dolls and toys donated to Dolls for Daughters® must be NEW. We look for multi-cultural dolls, boy & girl dolls, Barbie dolls, baby dolls, any type of doll. In addition to dolls, we need many toys. We also are looking for teen toys. We know that teens are the hardest area for us to serve. Toys such as basketballs, footballs, soccer balls, make up kits, nail polish, watches, etc. We serve children from birth – 18 years of age so all types of toys are needed!

A: Kenzi’s Causes is a 501(c)(3) organization so the answer is YES! Whether you contribute money or toys, you can take a deduction on your tax return. The IRS does have a few rules that must be followed and the responsibility lies with you, the donor.

1. A donor must have a bank record or written communication from a charity for any monetary contribution before the donor can claim a charitable contribution on his/her federal income tax return.

2. A donor is responsible for obtaining a written acknowledgment from a charity for any single contribution of $250 or more before the donor can claim a charitable contribution on his/her federal income tax return.

The IRS says this responsibility lies with the donor but Kenzi’s Causes is here to help! If you do not have a bank record and need a written receipt from us, simply notify our treasurer at treasurer@KenzisCauses .org to have a receipt emailed to you. If you donate through paypal online, a receipt is automatically generated.

If you are donating toys under $250 in value, you can go ahead and claim the deduction on your tax return. We recommend you keep the receipt from the store where you purchased the toys just in case you are audited in the future. If you are donating toys over $250 in value, you will need a receipt from us. If this is the case, be sure to contact our Treasurer to verify your donation and provide you the proper receipt. treasurer@KenzisCauses .org

In an effort to be more green while cutting costs, Kenzi’s Causes no longer mails paper receipts.

Dolls and Toys will be given to families who are in need of gifts each December and our Annual Toy Shop events across the state in addition to schools and nonprofits we partner with.

At this time to qualify for this program, your family must be a client of Warren Village, Hope House of Colorado in Denver and Crossroads Safehouse in Fort Collins and nominated by a staff member.

Kenzi’s Kidz relieves some of the financial burdens of at least one, low-income family pro-actively taking the necessary steps to create a stable environment for their children.  The program plans to give each child the fundamental items needed to succeed in school such as school supplies, clothing, extracurricular activities as well as birthday and holiday gifts for a year. Absolutely!! Kenzi’s Causes hosts multiple events each year which require a lot of time and effort to make them as successful as possible. We hold a Bowl-a-Thon, a golf tournament, a silent auction and then our primary event – the Holiday Toy Drive – throughout the last three months of the year. Any assistance available to contact local businesses for support, pick up and drop off donated items, assist with the Holiday Toy Drive, or other initiatives is more than just appreciated – it’s essential to our success!
