Aside from all the fun that summer camp brings, there are actual scientific benefits to attending, which is why it’s so important that we offer this opportunity to our children. Read on to learn the importance of summer camp for kids and how you can potentially help 15 low-income children pack their bags for seven weeks of summer fun!
How Summer Camp Benefits Our Children’s Overall Development
Summer camp is a way for our children to learn, grow, and connect without us, all while having loads of fun and adventure.
Here are the real reasons why summer camp benefits our children’s overall development:
The American Camp Association reported their results from a research study with more than 5,000 family participants from all over the world who shared their camping experience and outcomes from attendance.
ACA shares, “The results confirmed that camps build skills necessary to prepare campers to assume roles as successful adults. Parents, campers, and camp staff independently reported growth in areas such as self-confidence, independence, making friends, exploring and learning new activities, and spirituality. Indeed, camp provides growth experiences for youth that can benefit them through adulthood.”
The Impact Summer Camp Has On Our Children: In Percentages
- Camp helped me make new friends. (96%)
- Camp helped me to get to know kids who are different from me. (93%)
- The people at camp helped me feel good about myself. (92%)
- At camp, I did things I was afraid to do at first. (74%)

Every Child Deserves to Experience This.
Unfortunately, there are many children who will never attend a summer camp in their lives — and it’s not because they don’t want to; it’s because they can’t afford it.
Our mission at Kenzi’s Causes is to provide equality to all low-income families in the Colorado area. We serve as a relief program so no child in our community ever has to go without. Every year, we invite six families into our Kenzi’s Kidz Program. One of the many things we assist with is sending the children in our families off to summer camp each year. These kids have such a blast attending camp and they always come home, grateful that they got the opportunity to go and were able to focus on just being a kid. That’s really what it’s all about.
Aiden, one of the children in our program is going to summer camp thanks to our donors. Aiden’s mom shares her gratitude…
“As a social butterfly who loves to be surrounded by friends, the COVID-19 pandemic has been especially hard on Aiden. The social isolation caused by quarantine and multiple school shutdowns have made this last year so hard on him. By sending Aiden to summer camp, Kenzi’s Causes is giving him the opportunity to make new friends, new connections, and amazing memories, all of which will mean so much to Aiden and would not be possible without Kenzi’s Causes. We are so grateful to have such an amazing organization on our side!” – Aiden’s Mom
Help Us Send Our Kenzi’s Kidz to Summer Camp!
We have a total of 15 kids in our program who would like to attend summer camp. So far, we have raised just enough to send all the kids for three weeks, but our goal is to cover expenses for the entire summer, which is a total of seven weeks.
In order to reach our goal and give these children the experience they deserve, we’ll need your help. You will quickly realize, here at Kenzi’s Causes, we choose to be entirely transparent with our donors and our needs. We know our programs are doing good in the community; therefore, we share real numbers with the public.
In order to send all 15 kids to summer camp, we ideally need to raise an additional $10,700.
Below, you’ll find our giving options. Please know that every single penny counts toward a much bigger goal. We are so grateful for any and all donations. To think of all the things we’ve been able to do in our community this far… we would not be able to do any of this without our donations.
Thank You For Caring, Too!
Thank you for reading and considering our request to donate. We care about these children and we want them to know that they are being seen and heard. It’s not easy being a kid, but it’s even harder when finances are tight. We want kids to have the opportunity to just be kids. Summer camps allow them to do so. So, if you feel led to give, do what you can below. We are forever grateful to you and your generosity.
