Feeling supported is essential to our vitality and can impact our quality of life as we move through the ebbs and flows of daily existence. Support can take many forms, whether it’s a friend offering advice or the collective acts of a courageous community working together to improve the lives of the most vulnerable.
For single mother Hannah Fann, receiving support is essential to her ability to provide for herself and her five adventure-seeking children who love spending time outdoors. Layiah is ten years old and attends 4th grade, Lydiah is eight years old and attends 2nd grade, Liam is six years old and attends kindergarten, Lorenzo is four years old and attends preschool, and her youngest, Sophie, is two years old.
Although being a mother of five is highly rewarding, balancing daily responsibilities and being their sole provider can be overwhelming. After joining Kenzi’s Kidz Program, Hannah discovered the support she needed and realized that she didn’t have to balance motherhood alone.’
By providing the resources to help Hannah and her family, Kenzi’s Kidz program has given them a greater sense of stability and security. This has reduced the stress of worrying about affording the basics, essential household items and providing her children with memorable birthday gifts like a Sonic stuffed animal or a Spider-Man blanket.
In addition to the financial benefits received, Hannah and her five children look forward to attending monthly family events. These events provide an opportunity to connect with other families in the community, fostering a sense of belonging and connectedness. Hannah explains,
“We love getting out of the house and having fun with everyone involved. They are such loving and welcoming people.”
So far in 2023, her five children rated indoor rollerblading at Skate City in Aurora as their favorite event. But for Hannah, it’s not necessarily a particular event that makes being a part of Kenzi’s Kidz program memorable. Instead, it’s the fact that she is involved in a community where she feels supported by everyone involved. Because to Hannah, knowing her Kenzi’s Kidz Community supports her and her five children is absolutely priceless.
