At Kenzi’s Causes, we believe in the power of community — coming together, sharing what we have, and making sure every family feels seen, supported, and celebrated. This holiday season, we’re proud to announce a very special collaboration with Univision and four Save A Lot locations in Denver, aimed at providing both joy and essential support to families facing difficult choices.
What’s happening
On Saturday, November 15 and Saturday, November 22, Kenzi’s Causes, Univision and the following Save A Lot stores will be raising funds and collecting non-perishable food items:
- Save A Lot Federal – 1951 S Federal Blvd, Denver, CO 80219
- Save A Lot Montbello – 4874 N. Chambers Rd, Denver, CO 80239
- Save A Lot 6th – 15220 E 6th Ave, Aurora, CO 80011
- Save A Lot 74th – 3045 W. 74th Ave, Westminster/Denver Metro, CO
Our goal: to assemble food boxes that will be handed out at our Denver Toy Shop event on December 6, 2025. Every family who registers for the Toy Shop will receive one of these food boxes when they leave—so the gift of a toy is paired with the gift of dinner-table relief.
Why this matters
Too many Colorado families are navigating impossible choices: pay a bill or feed their kids? Skip a needed repair or buy groceries? As the cost of living rises—and with the current pressures on federal nutrition supports—the need for coordinated community response has never been greater.
Here are some of the critical numbers behind the work:
- In Colorado, during fiscal year 2022, about 529,266 individuals in 271,682 households received SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits. USDA Food and Nutrition Service+1
- According to recent reporting, more than 600,000 Coloradans (roughly 1 in 10) rely on SNAP food-assistance benefits. Denver 7 Colorado News (KMGH)+2Axios+2
- A survey from the Colorado Health Institute shows that in 2023 around 11.2% of Coloradans report food insecurity—meaning they ate less than they should because they couldn’t afford it. coloradohealthinstitute.org
- A deeper look shows that those just above the SNAP eligibility thresholds are actually among the most food-insecure (families forgotten in the “cliff” where income rises just enough to disqualify benefits, yet costs remain high). coloradohealthinstitute.org
- Statewide policy commentary warns that proposed cuts to SNAP would hit Colorado hard, forcing more families into having to decide between rent, utilities and food. Colorado Fiscal Institute+1
In short: the need is real. The need is now. By combining our efforts with Univision and Save A Lot, we’re mobilizing community, building real-world relief, and letting families know: you’re not alone, you matter, and you are supported.

Why this partnership is so meaningful
- Univision brings powerful outreach, Spanish-language connection, and media amplification—helping us reach families who may otherwise be marginalized.
- Save A Lot stores serve neighborhoods across Denver and Aurora, providing accessible drop-off sites and a visible reminder that local businesses can and do step up.
- Kenzi’s Causes brings the established structure of the Toy Shop, the volunteer network, and the distribution platform for these food boxes—with measurable impact and relational service that families count on.
Together, we’re not just putting items on a shelf or packing boxes. We’re building dignity, lifting spirits, and strengthening community resilience in a time of economic strain.
Looking ahead
On December 6, when families registered for the Toy Shop arrive, we’ll hand each one a box of food (thanks to the November collections) plus a curated holiday shopping experience, thanks to our donors, sponsors and volunteers. After the event, we’ll evaluate how many food boxes were distributed, how many families were served, volunteer hours contributed, and survey participants about their experience—staying true to our values of data, reflection and continuous improvement.
(And yes: we’ll share those metrics in the coming weeks. Because you deserve transparency and accountability.)
Thank you to everyone who is stepping up—our Univision partners, Save A Lot staff and community, our volunteers, donors and families. When we come together, even in the face of national-level nutrition and cost pressures, we can create local change. We can ensure families have food on the table, children have smiles on their faces, and hope in their hearts. Let’s make this holiday season count.
