“I never knew programs like this existed.”
When we asked Shantel Quintana how the Kenzi’s Kidz Program has impacted her life, those were some of the first words she shared with us. Shantel is a 24-year-old single mom, raising her six-year-old son, Xavier in the Lakewood area. Prior to moving into their new space in Lakewood, they were homeless and living in Shantel’s car.
For a few years, they often visited the Father Ed Judy House homeless shelter. However, it has been a mother-son-duo from the beginning. With no child assistance or support, Shantel has been doing her best at figuring out a sustainable lifestyle for her son and herself.
And she never knew programs like this existed.
Until she joined the Kenzi’s Kidz Program at the beginning of this year. ❤️
In January of 2020, Shantel and her son were given a warm welcome into our program, and needless to say, they have found more than just a helpful hand through our community.
“I feel blessed. I am currently struggling with anxiety and a lot of life circumstances and I honestly felt like I was stuck at a low point in life — doing what I do alone has not been easy,” Shantel shares. “I am glad someone sees me and my family, and wants to help us. I am glad I am apart of something bigger and meaningful, so thank you truly.”
Kenzi’s Causes is much more than just a financial aid to low-income families. We want to show these families that they are not alone and they are not tied down to their circumstances. Our goal as an organization is to help as many families as we can in the Colorado area to feel seen, appreciated, and supported. We understand that there is a major need for this type of support in our community, and we won’t stop our efforts in building more resources, assistance, and belonging for the ones in need.
But, there’s only so much we can do to spread awareness that we are here.
That’s where we need you.
Whether it’s through monthly donations or sharing our Facebook posts, we need to get the message out that we are here. How amazing would it be if every low-income family in our community was introduced to our resources? How much could we impact everyone within the community with this one common goal?
As a nonprofit organization, you have to get comfortable with asking people for money. We ask with confidence because we know where your money is going. We know the difference that it’s making in the community. We know the comfort and blessings that it’s bringing to others. We know we are helping.
See the happiness in this young boy’s face? Here’s sweet Xavier fishing with the K Club Crew from a few weekends back. This is what it’s all about.
School is around the corner and there are many families who can’t afford the required school supplies for their children.
WE ARE PACKING 3,700 SUPPLIES-FILLED BACKPACKS ACROSS THE STATE THROUGH OUR PACKS 4 KIDZ PROGRAM.
We need to spread the word that not only is this program available, but donations are necessary for us to reach our goal! Learn more about our Packs 4 Kidz Program by visiting our website and please share, share, and share some more of our posts on Facebook!
Let’s put an end to “not knowing” and start making a difference!
Thank you for supporting us so we can support those like Shantel and Xavier.
