Part of our organization’s mission is to help low-income families. Although our relief is financial, the mission goes beyond that.
As we all have been affected by COVID-19, there are some families who are struggling on a much larger scale. This virus has not only released a sickness to our world but an economic drawback to most.
It’s probably safe to say the average person has experienced what it’s like to live paycheck to paycheck at some point in time. There was no way to predict so many jobs lost, with little to none hiring. It’s scary, overwhelming, and isolating. Our hearts ache for all those who have lost loved ones or experienced any sort of discomfort and pain during this time. It’s not easy to fathom what the world is going through, but if we remember to look out for one another, we will beat this.
That’s what we do. The Kenzi’s Kidz Program is actively working to provide and support families through COVID-19.
We want to give the families within our program a chance to feel heard, accounted for, and taken care of. We want them to know they’re not alone. Even when the world is at a halt, this program is still making a difference.
Meet Florence and her three beautiful children, Baraka, Imani, and Zuri.
In need of a little financial help, Florence and her family joined the Kenzi’s Kidz Program in 2016. Four years later and Florence realized she signed her family up for way more than just financial relief – she gained a support system, team, and second family to count on.
Florence is a 36-year-old single mother to her 15-year-old son and two daughters who are six and seven years old. As Florence puts it, “my children are the joy of my life. I cannot imagine my life without them.”
They all have their own interests and hobbies but live very busy schedules, especially Florence. She works and cares after all three of her children, making their happiness and comfort her top priority.
When COVID-19 swept the world, Florence and her family experienced similar struggles that all young families are facing right now: adjusting to remote learning, remote work, and balancing the budget.
“It can be a challenge to manage the kids and their schoolwork, while still completing my own job duties.” Finding that balance has been the hardest part for Florence but thankfully, she’s been able to continue to work from home!
To alleviate some financial stress, Kenzi’s Causes stepped up during COVID-19 for each family in the Kenzi’s Kidz Program. Florence says, “I’m so thankful to God every day for Kenzi’s Kidz. During this time, the program has helped my children and me with grocery gift cards and rental assistance. My kids have also gotten some warm and fuzzy blankets that they absolutely love.”
There’s nothing better than hearing how Kenzi’s Kidz is impacting the lives of the families in our community. Florence shares, “This program has really impacted me in a way that I want to help people, one day. I’d love to make a huge difference in people’s lives and pay it forward, especially mom’s like me.”
Florence has been helped and now, she wants to help others, too. That’s inspiring.
“The most beautiful part about being in this program is that I don’t feel alone. I feel like my kids and I have an amazing support system/team. Kenzi’s Kidz is filled with angels. Thank you so much with all my heart!” – Florence
You’re not alone.
We can help and we will continue to help.
HOW CAN YOU HELP US MAKE A DIFFERENCE?
By donating to our Kenzi’s Kidz Program, we can continue to provide assistance to our families now and through the summer. We will use your generous donations towards food, activities to do at home, and (hopefully), a summer camp for 24 children within our program. You make it possible for us to be the support system these families need.
